Have you ever wondered why this generation are happy to pay upwards of thousands of dollars to attend a 4-day festival? What exactly is it these festivals provide? apart from the obvious entertainment and good times what are they offering on a more profound level? Why have music and sound become everything or at least so important you are willing to save all year to go to a festival? What is it that happens to you when you get lost in music?
Have you ever heard of Cymatics,” from the Ancient Greek meaning, “wave.” Cymatics is the study of visible sound vibration and shows the transformational nature of sound on matter. Sound guides us and shapes us yet is an intangible force. Cymatics shows us that everything what we perceive as hard objects, including our bodies, are continuously vibrating at their own rates, and sound is what guides this.
Cymatics merges sound, geometry, light, and mathematics into one through the presentation of stunning images created by frequencies of all kinds found in our bodies, in nature and beyond. Another way of explaining it is that a tone or a sound forms a distinct and beautiful geometric shape that become increasingly complex and wonderous depending on the sound, and since we are mostly made of water that shapes into sacred geometry imagine what getting lost in 4 days of sound does for your vibration and frequency?
In my opinion a festival can be a very healing and transformative experience and that is exactly why I love festivals, what it really does for the human body spirit and mind is priceless. Lightning in a bottle more than any other festival has allowed me to understand this on a profound level. After a 2 years hiatus LIB was back and it was with growing anticipation and excitement, I made my way to the campgrounds of Buna Vista Lake in the erred Californian desert near Bakersfield. A breathtaking sight with blue skies and a sunny lake with the occasional twister, allowing the elements to push you to the edge.
The event’s 2022 theme was “Where Lightning Strikes,” creating space for connection and expressiveness. A place where excitement, fun, and magic are part of every moment- allowing you to truly feel alive. LIB is about finding yourself, who you want to be, how you want to live, A place for meditation and transformation letting you align into higher versions of yourself. You think you come to party but somehow you end up trying something you have never tried before and LOVING it all the while having a quantum leap of consciousness.
Festivals are generally not easy to attend in terms of comfort, and lib is no exception.
The heat, the cold (strangely never just the perfect temperature between the 2) the wind, the camping. I somehow managed to spend hours trying to erect a tent that turned out not to be a tent at all but a sunshade, as a man who seemed to know about camping informed me. As the sun set I finally gave and surrendered, the result being that a beautiful angel lent me his tent restoring my faith in human kindness!
After the first day of difficult tent-erecting some yoga, and an ecstatic dance, I was starting to feel like the old days before the craziness of last few years! A gong bath shook up and rearranged my vibration followed by a healing sound bath of crystal bowls that did wonders for my nerves system and helped me to atone to higher frequencies this was Followed by a close encounter of the fifth kind where we found a portal to another dimension as we in-counted a scary faceless man, in any case it was nice to have some extraterrestrial contact. If Acid jazz, funk, techno blends was the flavor of the day, and the sound of this year’s festival psychedelic cheerily printed mushroom outfits was the fashion.
We came to party but end up experiencing a quantum leap of consciousness starkly contrasted by Emo and grunge S&M outfits. You could meet elders and tribal leaders sharing wisdom of how to live in harmony with nature and each other, study the mystery teaching of Magdalene , learn how to authentically relate, use food as medicine , learn backbends, forward-bends, guilt free sex by setting boundaries and stating your desires, none stop Ecstatic dances, dive into Crypto and the metaverse, learn how to grow food, use non-violent and non-treating communication , deconstruct a curry, learn how to make an elixir , womb wellness, solving mystery gut issues, the art of self-seduction, the technology of payer, all about the healing path of plant medicine, emotional intelligence, breath work, attend talks about the fact “we are mushrooms having a human experience” and living a life you love. All tools and skillsets for making a better future and this is what this is all truly about.
You think you come to party, to dance, to live, to express, to connect. But what happens to us on the inside is what really matters…inner transformation. A realization that we can live differently make choices out of love instead of fear, an opening of the heart, feeling the Oneness, and knowing we are all connected. When your brain is finally about to explode from too much information, you go DANCE your ass off at the woggie!
I ecstatically Danced with Dragonfly, amplified my yoga with Donnavan and unlocked my Shakti with a Belly Dance. All in all, I took part in several revitalizing and mood-boosting activities under the colorful structures of the Do LaB tents. There was endless ways to alter your mind but by far my favorite was a Total System Recharge with Jai Dev Singh getting us high on our own supply and introducing us into the power of kundalini as a tool of accession.
Through the years of attending this festival it has served as a porthole of esoteric and metaphysical knowledge for me, enough to profoundly change my life, having me ask at the end of each festival why we do not live like this permanently? As I headed home, I thanked LIB for helping me change my reality and way of living. Just Imagine Communities centered around, music dancing, sound healing, embodiment, yoga, sacred esoteric knowledge, creativity and connection? I concluded years ago that it Beats a 9 to 5 prompting me to radically change my life -I now live in the jungle by the beach in Costa Rica as connected to nature as possible, my number one focus is to lay the foundations for “New Earth” a different reality based on love and compassion instead of competition and survival. Vibrating in a frequency of love instead of fear!
