Glass Cypress unveiled a limited selection of adidas Stan Smith featuring a hand-finished treatment during an intimate dinner at H. Lorenzo in Los Angeles, marking a thoughtful collaboration centered on craft, memory, and material transformation. The OG tennis shoe, the Stan Smith has evolved into one of adidas’ most signature silhouettes, celebrated for its understated design and remarkable consistency over decades. Rather than treating the sneaker as a blank canvas for reinvention, Glass Cypress approached the iconic piece as an existing object worthy of subtle intervention.

Each of the 35 pairs was individually hand-finished in the Glass Cypress studio through a meticulous, material focused process. Coffee dyeing softened and stained the leather, creating organic tonal variation throughout the shoe, while hand distressing introduced scuffs, exposed markings, and signs of wear that evoke the passage of time. Layered airbrushed applications across the heel tab and panels allowed color to settle naturally into the surface, producing a patina that feels embedded rather than applied. The result is a Stan Smith that retains the clarity of the original image while carrying a new sense of history and emotional depth.

“The goal was to touch it, to imprint it with human intervention, without saying anything at all,” said Saber Ahmed, Creative Director of Glass Cypress. “That, to me, is beauty: texture created from the human touch, which is a result of human experience.” Presented at H. Lorenzo, the first retailer to support Glass Cypress and a long-standing partner of the brand, the private dinner brought together friends of the industry in a setting that mirrored the project’s ethos, intimate, tactile, and deliberately restrained.

The collaboration was the latest in exclusive drops that H. Lorenzo has released ahead of the recently opened 9,000-square-foot flagship on Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood, a statement making display of one of Los Angeles’ most influential retail institutions. Designed with Italian architect Oliviero Arch Baldini, the space brings together avant-garde fashion, collectible design, and cultural programming within an environment defined by raw materials, custom Italian-made elements, and carefully sourced objects from Japan. The flagship is conceived as more than a retail destination, transforming from a luxury shopping experience by day into a gathering place for culture by night.
