Devon Ross in Jason Renaud HER BLUE EYES

equal-means-equal
Photographer and director Jason Renaud returns with a striking new photo book, HER BLUE EYES, starring Devon Ross, a collaboration rooted in trust, intimacy, and creative autonomy. Shot across moments in between formal sessions, the images capture Ross in a raw, unguarded state. Essentially a projects steeped in the life of presence less veering into performance. The result is a body of work that feels instinctive and lived-in, favoring emotional clarity over polish and revealing a shared language between artist and subject. An archive of friendship, style, and effortlessness that would make sense as penultimate it girl Alexa Chung offers up the forward to the timely documentation.
“This book was born out of Devon and I’s desire to make something that is wholly our own, without any restrictions or limitations,” Renaud says. “These specific shots were captured in between other sessions featured in the book, they weren’t even going to go in the book initially, but felt that they were exceptionally honest and unadulterated. Devon and I are both proud of this work and focused on more projects together in this new year.” That spirit of freedom runs through every frame, giving the book its quiet intensity and sense of truth.
Renaud, who works between Los Angeles and Paris, brings a cinematic eye shaped by his BFA in cinematography from Belmont University. After moving to Los Angeles to pursue photography and directing full time, he released his debut polaroid book Opacifier last year. This second publication builds on that foundation while expanding his visual vocabulary—more assured, more intimate, and deeply collaborative.
For Ross, whose creativity spans acting and music, the project reflects her ongoing exploration of identity and expression. Following her critically acclaimed role in HBO and A24’s Irma Vep alongside Alicia Vikander, Ross continues to blur eras and disciplines with a vintage-meets-modern sensibility. Signed to DayDream Library Series under Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, she is currently working on new music set for release this year.
The book will be celebrated at the HER BLUE EYES LAUNCH, 6–8PM on January 15, 2026, at Des Pair Books, 1543 Echo Park Ave, Los Angeles.
