“PUNK PRINCESS”
THE FRENCH KISSED
Today, rising NYC label House of Feelings, a home of sorts for the post-pandemic boom of electroclash-inspired punk bands, is releasing its second collaboration with director Persia Beheshti, the single and video “Punk Princess” by the French Kissed.

The French Kissed are a band who were born for this moment. Stepping fully formed from the pages of glossy aughts fashion magazines, the band came up through this new electroclash NYC scene, but they’re smart enough to take as many cues from the Strokes as they do from the Dare. The French Kissed take you on a tour of New York Rock n’ Roll both classic and forward-thinking; think LCD Soundsystem but with the bite of youth, not the wistful remembrance thereof.

“Punk Princess” is a ferocious salvo of dance-punk: house beats underneath snarky guitars, lyrics about the party last night and the party tonight. The desire in lead singer Sarosh Qadri’s voice ups the ante; he’s not a cynical outside observer, he grabs you by the hand and compels you into the mix. With a stunning video from Beheshti that drops you in the middle of a sleazy party in a baroque manor, “Punk Princess” is a cannonball of glamor, vice, and fleeting euphoria that only NYC can offer; it’s shiny, gold, pink. A temporary high, gone in an instant.
